ASSISI:
as in, st. francis

the church of st. francis

the courtyard in the back
all those sweet arches

a roman museum
i think our favorite part is the elevated glass walkway above the ruins

definitely one of the best cities
probably one of the best views for sure

we climbed to the top of the hill where there was a castle/fortress that overlooks the city
we had to go into this freaky long dark tunnel to get to the tower

the hilllllssss are aliiiiiiveeeee

BEST CASTLE/FORTRESS EVERRRRR

got to the top
welcomed by a 360 degree view of city/country/fields/mountains/valleys/everything beautiful
it was amazing

our day trip to tivoli

VILLA D'ESTES
the summer home of a rich man who tried multiple times to be pope, but did not succeed, so he built himself an amazing estate to heal the pain of rejection of not being pope.
the house was nice, the gardens were better

when we got there, there was a forest fire at a nearby hill
there were airplanes and helicopters dropping water off

excited and pensive (?) looks

in front of one of the fountains

:)

alright enough group pictures already

the wind in our hair makes us look like models

melynn found a new friend!

the beautiful view from on top the hill
(who am i kidding. everything here is beautiful.
italy needs a new adjective, or i should invest in a thesaurus)

leaving the villa

oh. did i forget to mention?
WE SAW JULIA ROBERTS!
SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL! IN REAL LIFE!
there was an "eat, pray, love" premier next to our hotel

as promised:

the spanish steps!

smilja said that the light is different in rome, which i was skeptical about, i mean, it's the same sun everywhere.
but it's really not. the sun is just different in rome. an indescribable kind of different. see for yourself.

told you.

the colors of rome
